Chiefs win exhibition over Silvertips

EVERETT, Wash. – The Spokane Chiefs got goals from Curtis Miske and Kailer Yamamoto en route to a 2-1 victory over the Everett Silvertips in a Western Hockey League preseason match on Saturday.

Miske staked the Chiefs to a 1-0 lead with an unassisted shorthanded goal at the 9-minute, 48-second mark of the first period.

The Silvertips battled back to tie the score on a power-play goal by Remi Saurencelle at 12:14 of the second period.

Yamanoto scored what proved to be the winner at the 17:07 mark of the second on assists from Miske and Jason Fram.

Goalkeepers Garret Hughson and Alex Moodie split time in goal for Spokane.

Hughson started and stopped all 15 shots on goal he faced. Moodie finished the game, turning back 16 of 17 shot attempts.

The Chiefs came up empty on all five of their power-play opportunities, while Everett was just 1 of 11 with a man advantage.
