Obituary: Buckmaster, Kathleen (Schmid)

Age 57

BUCKMASTER, Kathleen (Schmid) Kathleen Buckmaster quiet-ly passed away on Monday, August 25th after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Moses Lake, WA on July 12, 1957, she was the third of five children of Vince and Ruthanne Schmid.

The family moved to Spokane in 1969 where Kathleen attended Trinity Catholic School and then Holy Names Academy, graduating in the last class of that institution in 1975.

As was her playful and fun nature, she worked at two toy stores and a candy store.

In 1977, she met the love of her life, John, whom she married in 1981.

Kathleen and John had two beautiful children, Michelle and Stephen.

She stayed at home to raise both children, devoting her time to volunteering at their schools and scout groups.

A 33-year member of St. Charles Parish, Kathleen gave her time and talents to a number of parish and school ministries.

In addition, she was also an enthusiastic member of the choir at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Kathleen enjoyed gardening, crafts, reading, but most of all, loved having her arms wrapped around her two grandchildren, Benjamin and Abigail.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years John; her daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Dan Beer, and son Stephen Buckmaster; her sisters and their spouses Pat and Jim Carroll, Teresa and Cam Barker, and Mary and Tom Heavey; and her brother Dan Schmid and his wife Marylynn.

In-laws and their spouses include her beloved mother-in-law Patricia Buckmaster, Richard and Debbie Buckmaster, Mike Buckmaster, David and Emily Buckmaster, and Margaret Smith and Roger Trainor.

She was adored by her two grandchildren, 23 nieces and nephews, 13 great-nieces and nephews, and innumerable cousins, and friends.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Charles Catholic Church, N. 4515 Alberta, Spokane, on Saturday, September 6th at 1:00 pm.

The family suggests any gifts or memorials be given to Hospice House of Spokane.
