Colbert man dies from collision injuries

Eds. note: The Washington State Patrol erroneously reported that Morris had died. As of Tuesday afternoon, Morris was on life support.

A Colbert man who was critically injured in a single-vehicle collision near Cheney last week has died, the Washington State Patrol said. Brandon Michael Morris, 23, was driving a 1985 Oldsmobile Calais on state Route 904 six miles west of Cheney just after 9 p.m. Nov. 25 when his car left the road, hit a rock wall and rolled back into the westbound lane, the Washington State Patrol reported in a news release. He was airlifted to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center with injuries and died at 7:30 a.m. Monday. His family was notified by the hospital. WSP investigators said the collision was caused by speed. Morris was not wearing a seat belt.
