Obituary: Moats, Nathan D. “Nate”

MOATS, Nathan D. “Nate” March 3, 1970 - November 25, 2014 Nate passed away after a valiant battle with ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Nate was born in Sacramento, CA to Ralph and Sandra Moats.

He grew up in Auburn, CA on our family ranch.

Nate attended Forest Lake Christian School and had proudly gone back to college at the time he was diagnosed.

As an adult Nate moved to Noxon, MT where he was married and blessed with his beloved daughter Kassandra.

He and Kassy later moved to Sandpoint, ID where he began working for Sears.

He then was able to move with Kassy to Colville, WA and become the owner of the local Sears store there.

Years later he and Kassy moved to Spokane, WA where they ended up at a lake house on Medical Lake and he had a job he loved at Ferguson Appliance.

Nate was a volunteer for the KXLY Extreme Team over the years.

He had a great love for people and was loved everywhere he went.

He enjoyed building and dreamed of many things to build.

He really loved decks, greenhouses and tree houses were his favorite.

He was always there to help someone in need, whether a project or any need.

When Nate was diagnosed, he and Kassy moved next door to his sister Becky in Hayden Lake, ID.

The KXLY Extreme Team heard of his needs at the new house and came and did a makeover for “one of their own” as they put it.

This touched him deeply.

Nate had a deep love of God and sharing that with others, he touched many lives.

He especially loved his ALS/PALS.

He is survived by his beloved daughter Kassandra Moats of Spokane, WA; parents Ralph and Sandra Moats of Hayden, ID; sister, Debbie Therrian of Colville, WA; sister, Elizabeth Stelzner of Indiana; sister, Becky Moore and husband John of Hayden Lake, ID.

His many nieces and nephews and many adopted siblings.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Blaine and Helen Mains, Leslie and Violet Moats and great-grandparents Bill and Helen Stark.

He will be missed.

Please join us for a Celebration of his Life with a potluck to follow, on December 7, from 2-5pm at Ferguson Appliance 2304 N. Dollar Rd., Spokane, WA 99212.
