Roundup: Shadle Park holds off Coeur d’Alene in boys basketball
Keil Nelson scored 13 points and Shadle Park (2-0) used a strong third quarter and 10-0 run in the fourth on Thursday to hold off visiting Coeur d’Alene 62-60 in a nonleague game.
Devin Kluss led the Vikings (0-1) with 19 points, including three 3-pointers.
Kluss’ final 3-pointer cut the Highlanders’ lead to two late in the fourth quarter.
After a stop, the Vikings weren’t able to convert on a last-second tip-in that would have tied it.
Cheney 71, Reardan 43: Brett Wyborney scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Blackhawks (1-1) cruised past the visiting Indians (0-1).
Cheney outscored Reardan 21-5 in the second quarter and 21-6 in the fourth.
Curlew 65, Kettle Falls 54: The Cougars (1-0) started and finished strongly, pulling away in the fourth quarter for a victory over the host Bulldogs (0-1). No other statistics were reported.
Kootenai 46, Coeur d’Alene Charter 26: Morgan Willms had 28 points, five rebounds and four steals to propel the host Warriors (1-0) to a win over the Panthers (0-1) at Harrison.

Lakeland 50, St. Maries 31: Faith Bodak scored 13 points to lead the Hawks to a victory over the host Lumberjacks (0-2).
Costanza Piermattei handed out nine assists to go with her seven points for Lakeland (2-3).
Kettle Falls 54, Curlew 31: Erin Johnson scored 14 points, Makayla Hall added 12 and the host Bulldogs beat the Cougars.
Daisy Hamilton chipped in 12 points and Olivia Beardlee scored 11 for the Bulldogs (1-1). Haleigh Gibson paced the Cougars (0-1) with 12 points.
Post Falls 64, Rogers 25: Melody Kempton tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds as the Trojans defeated the visiting Pirates. America Ellison added 10 points for the Trojans (2-1), while Loretta Guertin led the Pirates (0-2) with 10.
Reardan 61, Cheney 51: The Indians outscored the host Blackhawks 34-20 in the first half and held on from there, earning a victory. No other statistics were reported.
Junior hockey
Sean Collins scored twice, Tanner Stolz and Kurtis Redding also found the net and the Spokane Braves beat the host Grand Forks (British Columbia) Border Bruins 4-1 in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League action.
Trevor Dilauro made 35 saves for the Braves (14-13-0-3).
Redding also tallied two assists and Stolz added one.
Tucker Brown scored in the third period for Grand Forks (7-18-1-3).
