Auditions

The Modern Theater Coeur d’Alene – The Modern Theater Coeur d’Alene will hold auditions for their production of “The Nerd” on Dec. 29 and Dec. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at their theater, 1320 E. Garden Ave., Coeur d’Alene. Auditions will include cold readings from the script. Roles available are four men, age 26-60, one boy, age 7-11, and two women, age 25-50. Northwest Sacred Music Chorale – Auditions will be held Jan. 6 for Northwest Sacred Music’s Chorale at the Community Presbyterian Church, 417 N. Henry St., Post Falls, at 6:30 p.m. Those interested in auditioning should come prepared with a song, including music. Spokane Art School Winter Classes – Spirit Charm Necklace Workshop: Jerri Shepard will offer a Spirit Charm Necklace workshop for adults. Participants are welcome to bring their own charms, beads and religious medals. Handcrafted silver bales, leather cords, charms and beads, jump rings, and jewelry pliers will be provided. Saturday, 1-3 p.m. $16 registration fee, plus $25 supply fee. Digital Photography with Roger Dubois: Students, age high school to adult, can learn how to better understand the buttons and settings on their digital camera. Pastel Landscape Painting : Deanna Camp will teach Pastel Landscape Painting classes for people, ages 10 to adult. Jan. 15, 22, 29, Feb. 5, 12, 19, 7-9 p.m. $108. P ottery Wheel Workshop with Liz Bishop: Participants, age 10 to adult, will learn the process of making a pot on the potter’s wheel, along with the stages of working with clay and glazes. Christian Youth Theater – North Idaho Winter Classes – CYT-North Idaho is now registering students, ages 6-18, for their 2015 winter classes, beginning Jan. 6. Spokane Potters’ Guild – The Spokane Potters’ Guild will offer an eight-week winter pottery class, beginning Jan. 12. Spokane Arts Commission – The Spokane Arts Commission is accepting applications to fill 6 vacancies beginning in January. Arts Commissioner’s responsibilities consist of a three-year term and attendance to commission meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month. In addition, each commissioner has the opportunity to sit on committees designated for specific projects. Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission – The Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission is seeking artists for a piece of artwork to recognize the culture and history of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, inspiration for higher learning, reflect the history and formation of our community, and portray the diverse groups that created our city, to be installed along the Centennial Trail in the Education Corridor. Spokane Arts – Spokane Arts is seeking visual artists for a juried group exhibition at the Chase Gallery, City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd., July 1-Sept. 29. Artwork will be considered from artists from North Idaho, Eastern Washington and Western Montana. Entry deadline is Jan. 16. Up to three images may be submitted. Coeur d’Alene Art Grant Program – Three-year pilot program of the Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission seeks to widen arts and cultural participation and its expression. Program provides support from $500 up to $1,000 for projects, opportunities and events proposed by individuals, groups, organizations or communities of interest that offer a potential arts or cultural impact within the City of Coeur d’Alene. Idaho Commission for Libraries – The Idaho Commission for Libraries and the Library of Congress Center for the Book is seeking submissions from students in grades 4-12 for their Letters about Literature competition. Students are invited to write a letter about their favorite author and explain how his or her work has changed the students’ perspective on the world. The contest has three competition levels: Level 1 for students in grades 4-6; Level 2 for students in grades 7-8; and Level 3 for students in grades 9-12. State winners be awarded $100 in each level and will be announced in April. National winners will be awarded an additional $1,000 for first place and $200 for National Honors in each level.
