Riley Lupfer’s big second half guides LC past University

Riley Lupfer scored all 18 of her points in the second half Friday as the Lewis and Clark Tigers held off visiting University 55-48 in Greater Spokane League play that left both teams 2-1 overall and in league play.

LC’s Michaela Kay scored her 14 points in the first half.

The Titans’ Emma Kennedy shot 7 of 10 from the free-throw line in the first half and finished with 14 points. U-Hi’s Kaitlyn Pannell added 14 points, hitting 3 of 4 3-pointers in the second half.

Mt. Spokane 58, North Central 45: Isabella Allard totaled 17 points and 11 rebounds as the host Wildcats (2-1, 2-1) defeated the Indians (0-5, 0-3). Jaidyn Lyman had six of Mt. Spokane’s 16 steals to go with her 11 points. NC’s Jasmine Tonasket scored 15 points on 6-of-9 field-goal shooting and Megan Dean added 14 points.

Central Valley 78, Shadle Park 40: Madison Hovren scored 31 points, with nine in the first quarter and 13 in the third, to pace the Bears (2-1, 2-1) past the host Highlanders (0-5, 0-3). Hovren finished 7 of 9 from the free-throw line. Shyla Carr hit four 3-pointers and led the Highlanders with 22 points.

Mead 69, Ferris 53: Sue Winger totaled 15 points and seven blocked shots and the host Panthers (4-1, 3-0) pulled away from the Saxons (1-2, 1-2) after leading by two points at halftime. Mead’s Coreen Labish added six rebounds and seven blocks.

Gonzaga Prep 79, Rogers 36: Laura Stockton led three players in double figures with 17 points as the visiting Bullpups (5-0, 3-0) extended their winning streak to 28 games by defeating the Pirates (0-4, 0-3). Otiona Gildon added 14 points and Oona Harrington 11 for G-Prep. Rogers’ Sarah Guertin and Makala Peterson combined for 24 points.
