Signed Right-handed pitchers Justin Germano and Mark Lowe and utility infielder Carlos Rivero signed minor-league deals with the Seattle Mariners Thursday with invites to major league spring training. Lowe appeared in 162 games with Seattle from 2006-10 and was part of the trade that sent Cliff Lee to Texas. He spent last season in the Cleveland organization. Germano, a nine-year veteran, spent most of last season in the Texas organization. Rivero made his major league debut last season with Boston.

• Former Atlanta right-hander Kris Medlen agreed to an $8.5 million, two-year contract with the Kansas City Royals after missing last season while he recovered from Tommy John surgery. The 29-year-old went 14-12 with a 3.11 ERA in 2013, his only full season as a starter.

• A South Korean team, the Hanwha Eagles, says it has signed former major league outfielder Nyjer Morgan to a $700,000, one-year deal. The 34-year-old Morgan debuted with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2007 and hit .282 with 120 steals while playing in 598 games for four major league clubs.

Swapped According to sources, the Oakland Athletics traded All-Star catcher Derek Norris and minor league right-hander Seth Streich to the San Diego Padres for righties Jess Hahn and R.J. Alvarez and an international signing bonus slot . Norris, 25, batted .270 with 10 home runs and 55 RBIs last season for the A’s.

Switched Auto racer Darrell Wallace Jr. left Joe Gibbs racing and signed a deal with Roush Fenway Racing and will drive the No. 6 Ford in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The 21-year-old Wallace has five career wins in the Truck Series. Wallace became the first black driver since 1963 to win in one of NASCAR’s national series with his 2013 win at Martinsville.

Declared 17-year-old Canadian Brooke Henderson, who tops the world amateur golf ranking, announced she has turned professional. This year, Henderson was the runner-up in the U.S. Women’s Amateur, tied for 10th in the U.S. Women’s Open and won the individual title in the Women’s World Amateur Team Championship.

Reappointed Chief executive Bernie Ecclestone was reappointed to the Formula One board and will continue to serve in his current role. Ecclestone stepped down as a board member of F1’s holding company earlier this year while standing trial for bribery in Germany. The case was closed in August when Ecclestone made a $100 million payment.
