PR, Timberlake to play for title

Karly Douglas and Katlyn Summers each scored 15 points to lead Priest River past Bonners Ferry 53-27 in Idaho 3A District 1 tournament action at North Idaho College on Monday.

Jill Weimer added 14 points for the Spartans. The Badgers were led by Abby Davis with seven.

The Priest River win sets up a distict title game matchup at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday at North Idaho College against Timberlake, a 57-35 winner over Kellogg. Bonners Ferry will play Kellogg in a loser-out game at 4:30.

Timberlake 57, Kellogg 35: Keelie Lawler scored 21 points to lead the Tigers past the Bulldogs at NIC. Allison Kirby added 16 points for the Tigers.

Lakeland 52, Moscow 42: The Hawks moved into the Idaho 4A Region 1 championship game against Sandpoint on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at NIC by ousting the Bears.

Kaidan Kelsey led Lakeland with 16 points and Haley Rotchford added 10.

Sandpoint gained the title game with a 48-38 win over Moscow on Friday.

Newport 45, Chewelah 36: Jolie Frederick scored 21 points to help Newport punch its ticket to the Washington 1A Bi-District tournament.

Chewelah was led by Kaitlin Krouse’s nine points. Newport will meet Brewster in Omak on Friday at 6:45 p.m.

Kettle Falls 39, Riverside 35: Emily Owens and Erin Johnson each hit two crucial free throws in the fourth quarter to help host Kettle Falls hold off a late run by Riverside in a District 7 1A loser-out game.

Kettle Falls was 17 of 21 at the free throw line. Riverside was led by Julianna Trepanier with 15 points.

Riverside saw its season come to an end with the loss. Kettle Falls will move on to the Bi District tournament in Omak on Friday against Cashmere at 5 p.m.
