Four corners: Washington State Cougars

COMING UP: Saturday vs. Stanford, 4 p.m. (Pac-12 Network)

OUTLOOK: The Washington State basketball team is running out of explanations for its paltry record (9-14, 2-9 Pac-12). Injury is no longer an excuse as leading scorer DaVonte Lacy is back and putting up gaudy numbers, and coach Ken Bone maintains that struggles by players such as Jordan Railey and Royce Woolridge are mental rather than physical. At this point in the season the Cougars are playing merely for pride, and it has become apparent that the Cougars simply can’t match up with almost any other Pac-12 school in athleticism, skill or depth. Chasson Randle is Stanford’s top scorer at 18.8 points per game.
