“Willy Wonka” - Continues through Sunday. Roald Dahl’s timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this stage adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which features the songs from the classic family film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, presented by CYT (Christian Youth Theater). An enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats: the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. “Alice” - Continues through Sunday. Created from the original text of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll, Gonzaga University’s rendition of Alice was written by Devin Devine and produced by seniors Devin Devine, Erin Fitzgerald, Anthony Armstrong and Hannah Hodulik. It tells the tale of a girl who falls down a rabbit hole into a world of fantasy and derision. Full of magical characters and peculiar situations, a once very curious Alice only longs to go home. Director, Fitzgerald shares that Alice “runs the theme of how discovery leads to change as college is a place where discovery and change are basically a part of the curriculum, the themes in Alice can resonate with the journey.” Presented by GU Theatre and Dance. Keep Calm and Sign on Storytelling Time - Held the first Saturday of the month from 10:30-11:30 a.m. for parents and children who are deaf, hard of hearing, or visually impaired. Lego Build Day at the Library - Bring the family as the traveling Lego Build Day stops at each Spokane County Library throughout 2014. Drop in for an hour or all day. Enjoy some snacks and build to your heart’s content. Your awesome creations will be on display at that library for the month. Then they will be dismantled and the Legos shipped off to the next library for their Lego Build Day. All ages welcome, but children and six and younger should be accompanied by an adult. Spokane Youth Symphony Concerto Competition 2014 - Members will perform concerto solos before a panel of judges.
