Police say Idaho doctor wrote illegal prescriptions

Pinehurst physician Rafael L. Beier, 60, was arrested by the North Idaho Violent Crimes Task Force on May 28 for delivery of a controlled substance. Police believe Beier, of Kingston, was writing prescriptions for controlled substances to people who were not his patients in exchange for money, according to Coeur d’Alene Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Christie Wood. A search warrant was served on Beier’s office in Pinehurst on Wednesday.
