Obituary: Krier, Douglas Raymond

Age 75

KRIER, Douglas Raymond Doug was born December 13th, 1938 to Elmer and Emeline Krier of Genesee, Idaho and passed away peacefully at home in Murrieta, CA on May 1st, 2014 of terminal melanoma.

He grew up on the family farm in Genesee and attended Genesee schools through high school.

After attending Gonzaga University for two years, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a cryptographer at the 38th Parallel in South Korea.

Doug returned to Gonzaga to obtain his degree in education.

He taught in California for five years, then returned to the Spokane Valley to teach at Greenacres Middle School until his retirement in 1993.

In November of 1999, Carol Munoz and Doug were married.

They moved to California in 2002 and lived there until his passing.

Doug was a quiet man, a brilliant mathematician, a pioneer in computer education.

He loved: electronics, sports, reading, and being a football coach at Greenacres.

He particularly cherished his nieces and nephews and they returned the admiration of “Uncle Dougie” as well; he always knew how to entertain them!

Doug was happiest outdoors with his farm animals and ever faithful dogs.

During the summer months, one could find him in his pickup and camper exploring the mountains and back roads of Montana, Washington and Idaho.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Judy and nephew Johnnie.

He leaves behind his wife Carol, his brother Gary and Kitty Krier, Coeur d’ Alone, ID.

A sister Diane and John Flanigan, Spokane Valley, WA., brother-in-law Michael Schoeff, Kingman AZ.

Nephews: Stephen, Darin, and Michael.

Nieces: Thonna, Shauna, Stacia, Tracie, and Kirsta.

Great-nieces: Alysha, Amanda, Jadin, Jordyn and Marley (born in April, 2014).
