U.S. team punishes Uruguay
Luke Kennard scored 30 points to help the United States rout Uruguay 156-58 on Friday night in the Americans’ first game in the FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Kennard was 7 of 12 from 3-point range to tie the U.S. U18 record for attempts. Jalen Brunson set the U.S. record for assists in the event with 13, and the team broke marks for points, margin of victory (98 points), field goals (59) and assists (40). “I think the one thing we’ve been talking about is trying to play unselfishly, and they did that tonight,” said U.S. coach Billy Donovan of the University of Florida. – Associated Press
