Agreed Defenseman Matt Greene has agreed to a new four-year contract with the Los Angeles Kings. Greene was limited to 38 games in the regular season, but the assistant captain returned to the lineup in the postseason and played in 20 games while the Kings won their second NHL title in three years.

• The San Diego Chargers have agreed to a deal with former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers. Kansas City released Flowers earlier this month after three weeks of voluntary workouts during which the former starter was conspicuously absent. • The Carolina Hurricanes have reached a three-year, $8.5 million deal with defenseman Ron Hainsey. The deal will pay Hainsey $3 million for two seasons, then drop to $2.5 million for the 2016-17 NHL season.

Recovering Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick will be off the ice for up to three months after undergoing wrist surgery on Tuesday. Quick was injured during the Kings’ second-round series victory over the Anaheim Ducks, but kept playing while Los Angeles won its second Stanley Cup title in three years. He expects to open training camp in September.

Cleared Utah quarterback Travis Wilson has been cleared to play after a concussion last season revealed a pre-existing medical condition. Wilson had previously been cleared to participate in spring football practice, but he was limited to non-contact drills as a precautionary measure.

Out Pro Bowl center Mike Pouncey, the lone returning starter in the Miami Dolphins’ offensive line, is expected to miss the start of the season recovering from hip surgery. Pouncey was injured during offseason workouts and underwent surgery that will likely sideline him for at least a couple of games.

Announced Keeneland will host its first Breeders’ Cup in October 2015, giving the picturesque Lexington, Kentucky, track the marquee event it desired and returning the season-ending championship to the Bluegrass State for the first time since 2011.
