Amber Alert boy from Auburn found safe
SEATTLE – The 6-year-old boy taken at knifepoint from an Auburn, Washington, home was found safe and his mother was arrested Monday following a high-speed chase that ended in the Stevens Pass area.
An Amber alert had been issued Monday morning for Mason Joseph Bennatts-Miller, who is described as autistic.
Authorities said his mother, 34-year-old Sandra Bennatts, who does not have custody, forced her way into his grandmother’s home at knifepoint Sunday night, tied her up and took the boy.
King County sheriff’s Sgt. DB Gates said deputies tracked the mother through cellphone pings on Highway 2. When her car sped off at nearly 100 mph, they backed off. She stopped in the Stevens Pass area and was arrested without incident. The boy was in the car.
