Obituary: Collin, Betty M. (Beneke)

Age 91

COLLIN, Betty M. (Beneke) Betty passed from this life to eternal life on April 30, 2014 at the age of 91.

She was born on October 2, 1922 in Spokane, WA., to Fred and Barbara Beneke.

She spent her youth in Harrington, WA., and graduated from Harrington High School.

She attended Kinman Business University and became a bookkeeper.

She worked for Dr. Baker and Dr. Pierce and later for Camp Fire Girls and Boys.

She retired in 1977.

After retirement she and her husband, John, spent several years as “snow birds” traveling to California and Arizona.

She was an active member of Minnehaha Covenant Church, for many years serving on the Church Counsel, teaching Sunday School and participating in a Bible Study Group.

She was also a member of Union Gospel Mission Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, John; her parents, her sister, Adelaide Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Harriette Cassidy and Mary Lou Jones; four brothers-in-law, Don Collin, John Cassidy, Roger Jones and Bill Johnson.

She is survived by her son, Matthew Collin (Corri); and grandson, Greg; her daughter, Linda Day; granddaughter, Kris Emerson (Paul); and four great-grandchildren, Brady, Brandon, Brooklyn and Bryce; grandson, Dave Wilkerson; and great-granddaughter Kylie; her sister-in-law, Jo Marie Collin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2 pm at Westminister Congregational United Church of Christ, 411 S. Washington.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Union Gospel Mission, Camp Fire Boys and Girls or a charity of your choice.
