Lake City edges Lewiston for state berth

Hailey Jackson drove in Vanessa Shippy to break a 6-6 tie in the seventh inning and the Lake City Timberwolves earned a trip to the 5A State softball tournament with a 7-6 win over the visiting Lewiston Bengals.

Jackson went 4 for 5 with two RBIs for the Timberwolves.

Dakota Wilson hit a three-run homer in the first and Shippy went 3 for 4 with a home run for Lake City.

Paige Wells went 3 for 4 and hit a grand slam in a six-run second inning for the Bengals, who were eliminated.

Baseball

5A Region I

Lewiston 5, Lake City 0: Justin Shandrick tripled twice, Jake Munoz had two hits and Kade Woods threw a complete game shutout as the Bengals defeated the visiting Tiberwolves to earn a trip to state.

Lake City was eliminated from postseason play.

4A Region I

Moscow 12, Sandpoint 1: Cooper Larson and T.J. Lewis combined for six hits, including two triples and a double, as the Bears jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and cruised past the Bulldogs in a loser-out game at Moscow.

3A District I

Bonners Ferry 6, Priest River 1: Vince Bennett went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and struck out eight as Bonners Ferry knocked off Priest River in a loser-out game at Timberlake HS.

Caleb Blackmore delivered the big hit for the Badgers, opening the scoring with a two-run single in the third inning.

Bonners Ferry will face Timberlake for the district title Saturday at noon.
