Airmen complete basic training

Several area residents have graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Air Force Airman Austin Watson graduated from West Valley High School in 2012. He is the son of Janette Watson, of Spokane Valley.

Air Force Airman Tyler Hyatt earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Spokane residents Kevin and Gretchen Hyatt and a 2006 graduate of North Central High School.

Air Force Airman Nicholas Young earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Spokane Valley resident Jana Wolff and a 2013 graduate of Sentinel High School in Missoula.

Air Force Airman Hayden Allen is the son of Barry and Cindy Allen, of Spokane. He graduated in 2011 from Skyview High School in Nampa, Idaho.

Air Force Airman Jessica Bolle is a 2007 graduate of Shadle Park High School. She is the daughter of Spokane residents Kari and Scott Williamson.

Air Force Airman Alexandra Walsh is the daughter of Dalila Shawhan, of Moses Lake, and Robert Walsh, of Spokane Valley. She is a 2013 graduate of Moses Lake High School.

Air Force Airman Bradly Deubel earned distinction as an honor graduate. He graduated from Mead Senior High School in 2008.

• Navy Airman Joseph Ype Kingma has completed his recruit training at Naval Station Great Lakes, in Great Lakes, Ill. Ype is a 2010 graduate of Mount Spokane High School. He is the son of Dave and Nonie Kingma, of Deer Park.

Kyle Miller has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank awarded in the Boy Scouts of America. Miller is a member of Boy Scout Troop 171 and a senior at North Central High School. He is the son of Greg and Lori Miller. Miller built a retaining wall to protect a historic pump house along the Spokane, Portland, and Seattle railroad line near Amber Lake in Cheney for his project.

Pierce Harken has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a member of Troop 333, Inland Northwest Council, Chinook District where he has served as senior patrol leader. Harken has earned 42 Merit Badges and attended the Boy Scouts of America’s 2013 National Scout Jamboree. He is a freshman at Ferris High School and the son of Brad and Robin Harken. For his project, Harken helped build a wood shed for the Lake Spokane Campground at Riverside State Park which required 400 man hours to complete.
