In brief: Crash badly injures driver on U.S. 2
A man with serious injuries was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center by MedStar on Saturday afternoon after his pickup drifted off U.S. Highway 2 just north of Spokane and hit a tree.
Brandon C. Crone, 26, was driving north at Winchester Road when he drifted into the southbound lanes and hit a jersey barrier before his Toyota Tundra pickup jumped the barrier and hit a tree, the Washington State Patrol said in a news release.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Naked man playing violin arrested
PORTLAND – A naked man playing violin in front of a downtown Portland courthouse Saturday refused to walk to a squad car and had to be carried by police. Police said they aren’t sure of the man’s identity. The man was jailed under the Portland city code forbidding indecent exposure.
Police said they warned the man numerous times about his “lack of attire.”
Woman accused of smuggling items
ADA COUNTY, Idaho – Authorities are accusing a 31-year-old Caldwell woman of smuggling contraband into an Idaho prison. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office said the contraband sent to an inmate at the Idaho Correctional Center included iPods and cellphones.
The office said Danielle A. Pennington turned herself in to police this past week.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Patrick Orr told the Idaho Press-Tribune that a guard found the illegal communication devices in a package with a false bottom.
