Tigers boys doubles team moves to semis
Lewis and Clark’s Luke Brittan and Jordan Standness advanced to the State 4A tennis semifinals as the Tigers pair blanked an Auburn duo 6-0, 6-0 and beat a Newport team 6-4, 6-2 in Hanford on Friday. They will face a team from Gig Harbor today.
• In the 3A tournament in Kennewick, Shadle Park’s Audra Spargo won her first-round match, but then fell to Akari Baba of Prairie 6-1, 6-1. Daniela Giacomelli of Shadle was beaten in the first round by Fort Vancouver’s Angelina Polina.
• In 2A at Seattle, Pullman’s Tori Berditchevskaya beat Sehome’s Ali Morrow and Foster’s Eunica Serafica to advance to the girls semis, where she will face Sehome’s Lauren Smith.
• In 1B/2B/1A at Yakima, St. George’s Mark Hay and the Dragons doubles team of Collin Cremers and Nathan Furbeyre advanced to the semifinals.
Softball
Garfield-Palouse/Tekoa-Oaksdale rolled by Kittitas 16-6, but then lost 16-1 to Toutle Lake in the State 2B tournament at Yakima.
In other games, Adna defeated Colfax 6-1 and Napavine beat Northwest Christian 2-1. NWC bounced back to beat Darrington 10-0 while Colfax downed Asotin 11-9.
• In the 1B tournament at Yakima, Colton routed Oakville 15-0 and Almira/Coulee-Hartline 11-1 to advance to the championship game against Touchet. ACH defeated Quilcene 14-4 in the first round. Curlew beat Pateros 6-5 in its first game, but then fell to Touchet 12-2.
