(Age 87)

Walt passed away on October 25, 2014 and was born September 6, 1927 to Lena and Clarence Biggers in Sweet, Idaho.

He served in the Navy from 1944-46 after which he attended the University of Idaho.

Soon after he transferred to Cal Tech in Pasadena, in part so he wouldn’t have to walk through the snow to get to class!
In California, he met Helen Hammond who he married on December 16, 1949.

Walt’s education was interrupted when he was called up to serve again during the Korean War from 1951-53.
Walt graduated from Cal Tech in 1955.

He worked for Holly Mfg., Endevco Corp. and finally Subaru of America, where he set up and managed their emissions lab, eventually becoming VP of Engineering for the company.

In 1993, he and Helen moved to Spokane where he founded a steel-framed housing business with his brothers Ray and Dwight.
Walt enjoyed gardening, especially growing berries, fruit trees, and roses.

He was an avid reader and enthusiastic card player.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Helen, five children, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and his brother Gail.
Walt was an active member of St. David’s Episcopal Church where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 2pm.

St. David’s is located at 7315 N. Wall in Spokane.
