SPOKANE VALLEY – The city is looking for volunteers to fill two openings on its Planning Commission.

Applicants must be Spokane Valley residents and have an interest or training in planning, land use, transportation or building and landscaped design. Application forms are available at www.spokanevalley.org/ volunteer.

Volunteer fire auxiliary to sell poinsettias

NEWMAN LAKE – Sweet Tooth Bakery and Espresso, 24921 E. Trent Ave., will host the Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. as the group takes orders for holiday poinsettias.

An 8-inch poinsettia is $25 and a 10-inch is $35. The flowers come in red, white or pink.

All proceeds benefit Newman Lake Fire and Rescue.

Museum benefit lunch set for Nov. 15

SPOKANE VALLEY – The Spokane Valley Heritage Museum’s annual luncheon fundraiser is Nov. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road.

This year’s program is “The Heritage of Felts Field,” followed by a silent auction and the presentation of this year’s Heritage Preservation Award.

Tickets including lunch are $20 at the museum or at the door. Seating is limited. Make reservations at (509) 922-4570.

Event offers veterans benefit counseling

SPOKANE VALLEY – Lone Wolf Harley-Davidson, 19011 E. Cataldo Ave., will host a benefit counseling fair for local veterans from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Counselors from Disabled American Veterans will help veterans find answers to government benefit and other questions.

Lunch and snacks for everyone is free and sponsored by Costco.

There also will be holiday cards to send to a veteran.

Last year, more than 60 veterans were helped at a similar event.
