Feedback: What do you do with leftover Halloween candy?

We asked our Facebook friends what they do with their leftover Halloween candy and dozens weighed in. Here’s a sampling of the responses:

James Kent

Turkey stuffing

Nicole Dompier

It goes in my tummy

Amber Dawn Hutton

Mom eats it!

Lori Smoll

People have leftover candy?

Audrey Thiesen

We let our children pick their favorite 12 oz. of candy and the rest goes out on the front porch on Halloween night. Sometime during the night the “Halloween Fairy” comes to take the candy and exchanges it for some sort of gift … sometimes books, sometimes toys, sometimes movies, etc. Our kids love this tradition and don’t mind giving up their candy whatsoever!

Nina Rudd

Our daughter used to throw her candy in a drawer by her bed and then forget about it. I never knew this until she left for college. She had enough candy in the drawer to hand out for a Halloween … unfortunately it was all at least five years old by the time I found it.

Becky Renken

We take it to the kids’ dentist (KiDDS dental) and they give the kids $1 a pound and then they send it overseas to the troops. It’s pretty awesome.

Ryan Boddy

Those two words make no sense together.

Deidre Arnold

I try to hide it, in a variety of different bags and in different locations in the kitchen. Out of site and out of mind. When they do find it, it’s once again a real treat. Funny thing is, I just found Easter candy while hiding Halloween candy. Oops!

What leftover candy?

Christine Petrasso

Put some in those Christmas stockings. Why buy when you don’t have to? Just make sure there is no Halloween design on the wrapper, or be prepared with a “Santa” story …

Tami Walrath-Mcdonald

I make holiday cookies with them

Michelle Moreno-fix

I eat it.

Michelle Craft Tate

Put a piece or two in the kids’ lunches every day (no hard candy or suckers) and it’s mostly gone by Christmas. What isn’t goes in the garbage to make way for Christmas candy.

Renee Norris

Take it to DaBell Orthodontics, they buy it from you and then send it overseas to the troops.

Sarah Turner

What is leftover Halloween candy?

Whitney Mann

Months and months of midnight snacks.

Lola Chapel Penniman

My son’s birthday is in November so when the kids were little we always had a piñata! They loved it!

Anne Walter

We used to leave it for the Tooth Fairy. When she came and got it, she left some money or a book.

Amber Jones

Leftover and candy do not belong in the same sentence.

Gini Thommes Nowitzki

We let kiddo save some, mom and dad took our “candy tax” and we took the rest to a candy buy back. Kiddo earned $5 and bought herself Barrel of Monkeys game!

Robin Storms

Tooth fairy is going to take it and leave them a new toothbrush (and then the tooth fairy will ditch it onto whichever friend is willing to take it into work for their coworkers).
