Roscoe Bandit arrested in Oregon
The “Roscoe Bandit” suspected of four recent bank robberies was arrested in Grants Pass, Oregon, today and the FBI is crediting the Spokane Police Department with developing key information that led to his identification and arrest.
The robber was given the moniker “Roscoe Bandit” because of the long-barreled revolver he often used in his heists, which historically was called a roscoe. The suspect arrested Wednesday has been identified as William Mitchell, 55.
Mitchell is suspected of robbing the Numerica Credit Union on Riverside in downtown Spokane on Friday. He is believed to be linked to previous robberies in Seattle and Olympia.
The Spokane Police Department identified a suspicious vehicle in surveillance video of the robbery and used that information to identify and track down Mitchell, according to an FBI press release. Investigators also received numerous tips from the public after pictures of the robber were released.
