Two shot at Florida State University

By GARY FINEOUT and BRENDAN FARRINGTON Associated Press
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — At least two people were being treated for injuries Thursday after a shooting at Florida State University, and officials issued an alert for students to take shelter as officers converged on the campus library. A nursing supervisor for Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare confirmed to The Associated Press that the hospital was treating two people for gunshot wounds early Thursday. The supervisor, who declined to be identified due to department policy, didn’t disclose their conditions or whether they are students. The supervisor said officials had no information about whether there would be additional victims needing treatment. Strozier Library, a multistory building at the center of the Tallahassee campus, was roped off with police tape. There was no immediate confirmation that was where the shooting occurred. A campus telephone alert urged people to take shelter in a nearby building and stay away from doors and windows. Campus and Tallahassee police declined comment when contacted by The Associated Press.
