Area ranges help hunters sight in before going out in field
Hunters looking for a place to zero in their firearms for big-game seasons have several well-developed options in the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene areas.
Two venues have special sight-in days with range helpers that can be tapped for expertise and assistance.
Farragut Shooting Range operated by Idaho Fish and Game at Farragut State Park near Athol, Idaho, has a 100-yard range open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays through October.

• A sight-in day for hunters is set for 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Shooters can enter the range via the perimeter road from Bayview to avoid paying the state park entrance fee.
Spokane Rifle Club along the Spokane River downstream from the Bowl and Pitcher is open to nonmembers Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost: $20.
• Sight-In Days are set for Sept. 26-27, Oct. 3-4 and Oct. 10 from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. For $20 for one rifle plus $5 for each additional rifle, the club offers a scope and firearm checkup before you hit the range. It also offers assistance from a helper/spotter on the range with targets provided.
Club rules require that all firearms should be unloaded when arriving at the range.
Ear and eye protection is required and available at the club if needed.

Coeur d’Alene Rifle & Pistol Club also opens its range on Atlas Road near the Industrial Park (about 2 miles north of Seltice Way).
The club is open daily to non-members, with shooting allowed from 8 a.m. to around 7 p.m.
