Jacob Thorpe’s keys to the game: WSU vs. Oregon

4: What went wrong

Oregon made big plays when it needed to and Washington State needed one more answer. Despite seven sacks on Marcus Mariota the UO quarterback netted 50 yards on the ground, often when the Cougars badly needed a stop. Also, he missed on only four pass attempts.

2: Difference maker

Washington State’s offense was able to match the Ducks into the fourth quarter thanks to a breakthrough game from its offensive line, which has three underclassmen and no seniors. The Cougars gave up only one sack despite all the passes and were effective running the ball.
