Obituary: Baumgartner, Harlyn

Age 86

BAUMGARTNER, Harlyn August 7, 1928 - September 22, 2014 Harlyn (Slim) Baumgartner was born on August 7, 1928 in Hewitt, MN, to Hubert and Lydia Baumgartner.

He was baptized as an infant and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hewitt.

He was blessed with a strong Christian faith for the remainder of his life.

He married Nell Raabe on April 20, 1952, and they made their home in Spokane.

They were blessed with one daughter, Jackie.

Slim worked at Sunset Electric for 15 years and later was self-employed as a building contractor.

They relocated in Chewelah on the golf course in 1990.

Nell passed away in 1998.

He married Margaret Weber Nelson on July 2, 2000.

Slim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arvid; and sisters, Beatrice and Marvel.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Bill Fatur; step-son, Scott Nelson; granddaughters, Stacie (Rich) Prasser, Shelley (Taylor) Cox; great-granddaughter, Olivia Cox; brother, Darol (Lois) Baumgartner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 11315 E. Broadway on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Gethsemane Lutheran Church or the wonderful staff of Hospice House Spokane.
