Achievements: Students from region earn higher degrees

Several students from the Inland Northwest have earned degrees in the spring of 2014 from universities nationwide.

Morgan Hepler, of Spokane, graduated from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Arts in economics.

• Coeur d’Alene resident Benjamin Webb graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and finance. Spokane residents Kara Brockett and Leslie Calhoun also graduated from Baylor. Brockett earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and great texts of the Western tradition. Calhoun completed the University Scholars program and earned a Bachelor of Arts.

Austin Henderson, of Spokane, graduated from Pomona College in Claremont, California, with a Bachelor of Arts in economics with a minor in Asian studies. Henderson is the son of Dan and Janet Henderson and a graduate of St. George’s School.

• George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, awarded degrees to the following area residents:

Colbert: Brooke Batterton, Bachelor of Science in nursing.

Deer Park: Ivy Deniston, Bachelor of Arts in psychology.

Mead: Justin McClain, Bachelor of Arts in economics and politics.

Pullman: James Pagels, Master of Arts in ministry leadership.

Spokane: Riley Palmer, Master of Divinity.

Spokane Valley: Garet Simpson, Bachelor of Science in athletic training.

• Spokane resident Jehosuah Kuusisto graduated from Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois, with a Bachelor of Science in recreation with a minor in physical education.

• Spokane residents Tucker Hoch and Anthony House have graduated with Associate of Arts degrees from Dawson Community College in Glendive, Montana.

Dane Christensen, of Othello, Washington, and Jenna Speltz, of Spokane, have graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee. Christensen earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery. Speltz earned a Bachelor of Science in exercise physiology.

Ae Rin Jung, of Pullman, received a Master of Science in environmental and natural resource economics from the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island.

Jonathan Burkholder, of Warden, Washington, graduated with a degree in history from Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

• Spokane resident Rachel Sumagpang received a Master of Public Health from Emory University in Atlanta.

Heather Speziale, of Spokane, graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Florham Campus in Madison, New Jersey, with a master’s degree in creative writing and literature.

• Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, has awarded degrees to the following area residents;

Coeur d’Alene: Chad Schobert, doctorate in optometry.

Spokane: Kelly Singer, bachelor’s degree in exercise science.

Spokane Valley: Samantha Cruz, bachelor’s degree in psychology.

Alene Bethel, of Veradale, has graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Science in human environmental studies.

Amy Whisenand, of Spokane, graduated with a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey.

Fiona Gilleran, of Spokane, received a Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.
