Photo: Cacophony of flight, pungent waft of beauty

An experience for all the senses: The Skagit Valley is bursting with life right now – tulips, daffodils, swans, and thousands upon thousands of snow geese. The geese were a sight to behold, but what really left an impression on the photographer was their excessively noisy nature and their intense, less-than-pleasant smell. The flocks are like roving Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations, stinky swarms of life. (Craig Goodwin)
