Two vehicles involved in fires in Spokane Valley

Two vehicles were set on fire in the Spokane Valley area on Saturday and investigators are looking for information on the crimes, which are not believed to be connected.

A pickup truck parked on the side of the road was set on fire around 6 a.m. in the 100 block of North Hutchinson Road. Just before 8 p.m. someone lit hay on the back of a flatbed semi on fire in the 900 block of North Howe Road.

“It was caught fairly quickly,” Spokane Valley Fire Department Assistant Fire Marshal Bill Clifford said of the hay fire. “There was no damage done to the trailer.”

Some of the hay and the tarps covering it did burn. Both fires are under investigation and anyone with information on the incidents is asked to call the department at (509) 928-1700.
