Manic Moon Studio: Beginning Acrylic Landscape with Pam McVay – Learn to use basic acrylic paints to compose paintings that include sky, mountains, foothills, foreground, trees, and a pond or lake. Spokane Art School: Handmade Raku Tile – Students will design, construct and glaze tiles for the Raku firing. Raku is a type of Japanese firing process in which the fired Raku piece is removed from the hot kiln and put directly into water or allowed to cool in the open air. Space is limited. Register at www.spokaneartschool.net. For ages 10 and over. Saturdays, April 25, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., May 2, 9, 10 a.m.-noon. $70, plus $35 lab fee.

Artisans at Dahmen Barn: Getting Started with Zentangle – Led by Susan E.J. White. Zentangle is a fun and easy-to-learn method for creating beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. April 18, 1-4 p.m. $40. Register by Saturday by calling (509) 229-3414 or at www.artisanbarn.org.

City of Moscow Arts Commission, the 1912 Center and Heart of the Arts Workshops : Photography in Blue: Cyanotype with Harlan Crichton – Participants age 10 and older will use cyanotype, a nontoxic alternative photographic process, to produce beautiful images. No photography experience is necessary. The application deadline is April 23 at 5 p.m. After that, applications will be accepted if space is available. 10 a.m. April 25. $25.

Create Arts Center Classes – Open Painting: Open to beginner or advanced painters. Bring your current or future project to paint with the group. Thursdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Watercolor Basics and Beyond: Every third Friday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Cost is $35. Supplies available for purchase at the class. Fiber Arts Studio: Held Wednesdays, 9 a.m.-noon. Evergreen Art Association Open Juried Show: Open to area artists who may submit up to two pieces of two-dimensional work. Registration is due Monday and can be mailed to Evergreen Art Association, c/o Robert Karr, 205 N. Craig Ave., Newport. There is a nonrefundable entry fee of $15 for one piece and $20 for two pieces.
