Forward Ognjen Miljkovic will leave EWU’s men’s basketball program

Eastern Washington forward Ognjen Miljkovic is leaving the program, the school announced Wednesday.

Miljkovic, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound redshirt sophomore from Serbia, started 33 of 34 games last season while averaging 9.7 points and 3.1 rebounds to help the Eagles reach the NCAA tournament for the first time in 11 years.

Milkovic’s immediate plans weren’t revealed, but EWU coach Jim Hayford said that “Ognjen has determined for personal reasons that it is best for him to complete his career at another school.”

Miljkovic played in 59 games for Eastern over a two-year career. His departure means that Eastern will return only one starter from last year’s squad: power forward Venky Jois.

Backup point guard Daniel Hill also is leaving the program with eligibility remaining, Hayford said.
