Assigned Veteran referee Kenny Bayless will be the third man in the ring when Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao meet in boxing’s richest fight ever. Bayless is widely considered the best referee in Nevada, and is often used for big-name fights. Bayless will be paid $25,000, while the judges will each receive $20,000.

Returns Michigan guard Caris LeVert will return for his senior season after a year cut short by injury. LeVert was leading the team in scoring (14.9 points per game), rebounds (4.9), assists (3.7), steals (1.7) and minutes (35.8) when he was injured after 18 games last season. In 88 games, including 56 starts, he has scored 823 points for the Wolverines.

Resumes Former Tour de France champion Chris Froome will resume his preparations for the prestigious race at the Walloon Arrow one-day classic. Froome, who won the 2013 Tour and retired because of injury last year, has been confirmed in Team Sky’s lineup for today’s race. The Tour de France starts on July 4 in Utrecht, Netherlands.

Withdraws The PGA Tour says Tim Clark of South Africa has withdrawn from the Match Play Championship next week because he’s still recovering from an elbow injury. Clark has not played since the Sony Open in early January. The Match Play Championship starts April 29 at Harding Park in San Francisco.

Released A spokesman for Ron Turcotte says the jockey who rode Secretariat to the 1973 Triple Crown has been released from the hospital, six weeks after breaking his legs in a one-vehicle crash. Turcotte, who has been paralyzed from the waist down after a riding spill in 1978, was hurt when the van he was driving hit an icy patch and flipped on its side on the Trans-Canada Highway near his home in Grand Falls last month.

Re-signed The Cowboys re-signed running back Lance Dunbar and punter Chris Jones to one-year contracts worth $1.5 million. Both were restricted free agents. Dunbar and Jones were the last of Dallas’ restricted free agents.
