Obituary: Long, Patricia Marie

Age 93

LONG, Patricia Marie (Age 93 1/2) Was born at home in Spokane, WA on September 21, 1921.

She entered Heaven’s gates on March 28, 2015 with her loving daughter Susie and son-in-law Ed by her side.

A superb, loving mother and homemaker, Patricia was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends.

She had a real love for people and enjoyed entertaining.

She and Webb loved to travel and collect gemstones and rocks.

They spent many enjoyable years going south to Mesa, Arizona where they made many friends.

Pat had an unwavering faith in God.

She was a member of Foothills Community Church.

Over the years, she had become very involved with the church and assisted teaching Tiny Tots, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

She had a special love for teaching junior high and high school girls’ Sunday School Classes.

Pat was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Service League and served many years on the second floor information desk.

She had a servant’s heart and loved helping people as they came to the hospital to visit a friend or loved one.

Pat was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 70 years, W.G.

“Webb” Long.

She was also preceded by her two brothers, Arthur and Harold Williams and her sister Louise Meader.

Pat is survived by her daughter Susan “Susie” Morgan and husband Ed and son James Long and his wife Judy.

She is also survived by four grandchildren, Lisa Morgan, Brad Morgan and his wife Sakae, Gregory Long and his wife Margaret, Jeffrey Long and his wife Kelly.

She also has seven great- grandchildren, Jenna, Caleb, Elijah, Rio, Samara, Hana and June.

She is survived by nephews David Long (Jo) Laguna Beach, CA, Bob Williams (Dorothy), Bozeman, MT and Rich Williams, Spokane, WA.

She is also survived by her special friend who called her Mom and faithfully visited her, took her for coffee and lunch for many years, Cherie Van Gerpen and her husband Royce.

The family gives them and everyone else who cared for Pat their greatest gratitude.

Pat has long roots to Spokane as her mother, Marie, travelled from Sweden to Spokane in 1906 where she met and married Pat’s father, Homer Williams.

Pat graduated from John R. Rogers High School in 1939.

She was a Pirette Girl, played tennis, volleyball, tumbling, skating, baseball, won her letter in basketball.

She was active on the Dance Committee and many school activities.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held April 25, 2015 at 1:00 PM Foothills Community Church, 11102 N. Forker Rd., Spokane, WA 99217, Pastor Jerry Kennedy officiating.
