AP source: Timberwolves’ Andrew Wiggins named NBA’s top rookie
Andrew Wiggins started his NBA career at the front of his rookie class. He finished his first season there, too. The Minnesota Timberwolves’ forward will be named rookie of the year today, a person with knowledge of the announcement told The Associated Press on Wednesday. The person requested anonymity because an official announcement has not been made. After coming to the Timberwolves in the trade that sent Kevin Love to Cleveland, Wiggins averaged 16.9 points and 4.6 rebounds while playing all 82 games in his first season. Wiggins was drafted No. 1 overall by the Cavaliers last summer and has been a hyped prospect since he was a teenager growing up in Toronto. He won the first four Western Conference rookie of the month awards. – Associated Press
