Photo: Bicyclist on Sunset Highway cited after bus strikes him

Mangled machine: A bicycle is seen wedged underneath the front bumper of an STA bus in the aftermath of an accident Friday morning in the 5600 block of West Sunset Highway. Cyclist Donald Lunsford, 56, was transported to Deaconess Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Lunsford was cited for making an improper turn in front of the bus, the Spokane Police Department reported in a news release. The crash occurred about 7 a.m. The bus driver, who declined to give his name, said the man was pedaling on the south side of the street and veered into 50 mph traffic. There are two lanes in each direction. The driver said he swerved to the inside lane to avoid the bicyclist. (Dan Pelle)
