Obituary: Kalamon, Traci Lyn

Age 53

KALAMON, Traci Lyn (Age 53) The Lord called Traci Lyn Kalamon home on July 17, 2015, a short seven days after she was first diagnosed, with no prior warning, with liver cancer: metastatic melanoma.

The diagnosis was shocking news and her passing a devastating loss to friends and family.

She passed away with her husband at her bedside.

Traci Lyn was a remarkable person to all who knew her and a wonderful partner in life to her husband, Jim Kalamon.

Her radiant smile, sparkling blue eyes, unpretentious and humble manner, warm and cheerful personality and tireless energy brought sunshine into every room she entered and a smile on every person’s face with whom she came in contact.

She had a boundless spirit, irrepressible optimism, joy for life, uncompromising integrity, a generous and giving heart and unconditional love for her family and friends.

Traci Lyn’s focus was always on other people, never on herself.

She was born in Orofino, Idaho, on September 17, 1961.

She lived her childhood years with her mother, Sandra Bullock Coon, her father, Kenneth M. Coon, and sister, Cindy (Coon) Beck in Pierce, Idaho.

She enjoyed family and friends, the outdoors and became an expert snow skier and an accomplished water skier.

Her activities also included cheerleading, playing the flute, student leadership, yearbook, 4H, county fair competitions and working summers on logging sites clearing slash from streams.

Traci graduated from Timberline High School and later Lewis & Clark College where she obtained an Associate of Arts Degree.

She moved to Spokane and began a career of over 33 years as a surgery scheduler for what is now known as Columbia Surgical Specialists.

She took pride in her work and was excellent at her job.

Traci loved working with “her” doctors and staff.

Traci Lyn met her husband-to-be, Jim Kalamon, in 1994 and they were married in 1997.

They were blessed to share a magical relationship for all of their 21 years together filled with love, respect, humor and fun.

Traci Lyn loved to travel, treasured her friends and family and they felt the same about her.

Her nieces and nephews, Cody (Sammie) Beck, Travis Beck, Ally, Mick, Mylie, Sofie Sue, and Sophie Ana, whom she called “the kids,” were one of her special joys in life.

She was also grateful for all other aspects of her life including her long-time high school friends, painting classes, her “cooking buddies,” bunco friends and community neighbors.

Her love of sports, especially the Seahawks, the Cougars, “Big Dog” professional golfers, LeBron James and Michael Jordan, knew no bounds.

Traci Lyn was truly unique; one of a kind.

She will be missed beyond description.

Although she has been called home, she will never be forgotten; her spirit is with us each and every day sending those “good vibrations” to give us strength in her absence until we meet again in eternal peace.

The Celebration of Life service will be held on August 22, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, located on Highway 195 South at 5810 Meadow Lane Road, Spokane, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are encouraged to the Spokane Union Gospel Mission.
