Obituary: Laurich, Richard Ralph, Jr.

Age 63

LAURICH, Richard Ralph, Jr. (Age 63) Was born in Lewiston, ID to Richard Ralph Laurich, Sr. and Letha (Rudolph) Laurich on February 29th, 1952.

He attended University High School in Spokane Valley, WA, graduating in 1970.

There he was very much involved in athletics lettering seven times in three years.

He sang in choir and was a member of a barbershop quartet.

He was also part of the student body, serving as the Senior Class President.

After high school, Rick attended WSU where he studied Pre-Medicine, earning a 3.8 GPA, before leaving early and hitchhiking around the country.

While at WSU he was involved in social activism, a passion which followed him into his career at Kaiser Aluminum in 1974.

He worked in many positions at Kaiser and served as President in the United Steel Workers of America Local Union 329.

He married in 1979 and had four kids.

Rick enjoyed many things in life.

He loved camping with his friends and family, sports, playing cribbage, doing crossword puzzles, watching John Wayne movies, listening to music, reading, and making jokes.

Rick is preceded in death by his mother and father.

He is survived by his four kids Magellan Laurich, Wallis Smith, Cassidy Laurich, and Chelan Laurich-Glubrecht; his grandkids Josephine, Clara, Alexa, Malakai, and Cassius; his partner Theresa Fulghum; and his siblings Sharon Cox, Rob Laurich,Linda Nelson, and Shelley Brian.

A service will be held in his honor at Valleypoint Church, 714 S. Pines Rd.

in Spokane Valley, WA on Tuesday, August 18th 2015 at 3pm.
