Obituary: Spence, Neil A.

Age 81

SPENCE, Neil A.

(Age 81) Neil Spence, 81 years old, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 14, 2015.

Born in Hibbing, MN to Vincent and Mae Spence, he was the second of five children.

In 1948, he moved to Kennewick, WA where he, at the age 15, met the love of his life, Loretta DeWitt.

They were blessed with 61 years of marriage and five children.

He worked as a milkman for Darigold for 18 years, later becoming a certified audiologist.

He started Western Hearing with two partners and truly loved helping people improve their hearing.

In 1982, both Neil and Loretta rededicated their lives to Christ and attended the north side Calvary Chapel where he was an usher for many years.

A stroke ten years ago ended his working career, but he was still able to enjoy camping, fishing and golfing with friends and family.

Though he lost his ability to speak, everyone was drawn to his infectious smile and an ever constant twinkle in his eyes.

Put simply, he loved people and people loved him.

Neil is survived by his wife Loretta, four daughters and spouses Ann and Larry Whyman, Laura and James Knapp, Kathy Spence, Penney and George Morse and son Jeff Spence.

Grandchildren, Ky and Logan Winborn, Scott, Greg and Michael Knapp, Amber Morse, Leah Teiman, Katie Spence and Angie Rankin plus six great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by sisters Evonne Gaston, Sandy Richards and brother Bill Spence.

A celebration of his life will be held August 22, 2012 at 1:00pm at Calvary Spokane, 511 W. Hastings Road, Spokane, WA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

The family thanks Hospice for their kindness and care during Neil’s final days.
