Troop 117 Scout earns Eagle

• Alex Wallat has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank awarded in the Boy Scouts of America. Wallat is a member of Boy Scout Troop 117. He joined the troop as a Cub Scout and served as Quarter Master for four years as a Boy Scout. For his service project, Wallat replaced the posts on the Little Spokane River interpretive trail by the Painted Rocks.

Residents finish basic military training

Several area residents have graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

• U.S. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Coleman White is the son of Spokane resident Linda Reznicek and a 2013 graduate of Cheney High School.

• Air Force Airman Haley Grenier is a 2012 graduate of Rogers High School. Grenier is the daughter of Spokane residents Gerard Grenier and Joanne Goetz-Grenier.

• U.S. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Dustin Smith earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Achara and Forrest Smith, of Spokane Valley, and the husband of Tia Beecher. He graduated in 2002 from Central Valley High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2006 from Eastern Washington University.

• Air Force Airman Felicia Fitzgerald graduated in 2014 from Shadle Park High School. She is the daughter of Christina and Donald Puckett, of Spokane, and Patrick Fitzgerald, of Pullman.

• Air Force Airman 1st Class Gus Johnston is the son of Spokane residents Carleen and Peter Johnston. He graduated from North Central High School in 2014.

• Air Force Guard Airman 1st Class August Ward graduated from Mead High School in 2014. He is the son of Bradley and Chaundra Ward, of Spokane.
