Area roundup: Savannah Blinn honored by WCC

Gonzaga senior Savannah Blinn was chosen first-team preseason All-West Coast Conference and the Bulldogs were picked to finish fourth in the conference in the preseason vote of volleyball coaches.

Blinn, a Lewiston native, was an All-WCC performer at opposite-side hitter last year.

BYU, which reached the Final Four last season, was a solid choice to win the league. (See poll on Scoreboard, page B4).

Golf

The annual Zags Golf Classic will honor the 1999 Gonzaga men’s basketball team during this year’s event, Sept. 14 at Manito Golf and Country Club.

Proceeds from the Zags Golf Classic, in its 31st year, go to support the “Gonzaga student-athlete experience,” a news release promoting the event stated.
