Magic of Disney comes to Lake CdA through CST concert
Theater performers finish season with favorite classic songs

Tuesday night on the shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene, the songs of Disney will come to life.
Yes, even that one – the one from “Frozen” that everyone’s been singing for nearly two years.
The two-hour concert, presented by Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre, will feature performances by several local actors who appeared in CST shows this season, which wraps up Sunday with the closing performance of “Shrek.”
The idea for the concert, said CST’s artistic director Jadd Davis, is to not only raise a little money, but to conclude the season on a fun note.
Couldn’t just “Let It Go,” right?
“We couldn’t not do that one,” Davis said.
Among the other tunes are the classic “When You Wish Upon a Star” from “Pinocchio,” “A Whole New World” from “Aladdin,” “Part of Your World” from “The Little Mermaid,” “Just Around the River Bend” from “Pocahontas,” “For the First Time in Forever” from “Frozen” and “Beauty and the Beast” from the classic of the same name.
The benefit of doing a Disney show, Davis said, is that there are so many songs from the past 60 years that you can create any kind of program.
“It’s something we’ll probably do multiple times over the next decade and never repeat the same concert twice,” he said. “It’s a no-brainer for us. It’s our kind of music. Everybody likes to listen to it. Everybody likes to sing it.”
One song in particular, “Santa Fe” from the Broadway musical “Newsies,” was a hot commodity among the performers, Davis said. “I had to make a determination on that one,” he said, adding that Dustyn Moir got the nod.
The other singers include Davis, Callie McKinney Cabe, Kalla Mort, Kasey Nusbickel Davis, Sophie Anderson, Alyssa Day and Robby French.
“It’s entirely people who have been on stage this season with one exception, and that’s Robby French, who has been with Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre many times over in years past and wanted to join us for this show,” he said. “I love Robby and was happy to have him join us.”
