Lilac City Fairy Tales, round two, set to return

Tickets are now on sale for Lilac City Fairy Tales, the sequel.

“Marry a Monster” will feature poetry, prose and music from a number of Inland Northwest women and will be at the Bing Crosby Theater on (appropriately) Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.

The participating artists are 11 writers and two singer-songwriters. The authors are tasked with writing a piece – poetry, prose or nonfiction – of no more than 1,000 on the theme “Marry a monster,” a line taken from “Fairy-Tale Logic,” a poem by A.E. Stallings.

The writers are: Kim Barnes, Polly Buckingham, Beth Cooley, Zan Agzigian, Kate Lebo, Stephanie Oakes, Katrina Roberts, Erin Pringle-Toungate, Kisha Lewellyn Schlegel, Rachel Toor and Debra Magpie Earling. Music will be from indie-folk/Americana performer Liz Rognes and Windoe, the solo folk project of Bartlett co-owner Karli Ingersoll.

Tickets are available in advance for $15 through the Bing’s website, www.bingcrosbytheater.com, or at the door for $18. Proceeds benefit Ink Artspace, a nonprofit that provides arts education programming for Spokane area youth and adults.

The event is sponsored by Scablands Lit, a nonprofit literary organization created by poet Ellen Welcker and noveling Sharma Shields, and the Bing. For more information, visit Scablands Lit on Facebook or online at http://www.scablands-lit.org/
