City to implement holiday schedule

City offices and services will be closed or delayed because of the holidays.

Spokane City Hall will close at noon Thursday and Dec. 31, and will be closed Friday and Jan. 1, in observance of Christmas and New Year’s Day. Spokane Public Libraries will be closed Thursday, Friday and Jan. 1. The Spokane Municipal Court will also be closed both Fridays.

The Spokane City Council will not meet Monday. Meetings will resume Jan. 4.

Parking meters don’t have to be plugged Friday or Jan. 1.

Riverfront Park attractions will be closed Christmas Day.

Friday garbage and recycling pickup will be Saturday both weeks. Starting Monday, fresh-cut trees can be put out for curbside pickup on regular garbage days. Trees up to 6 feet tall are accepted; taller trees should be cut it in half. Collected trees will be chipped and composted.

St. George’s ties for math meet title

St. George’s School’s 11th-12th grade team tied with Hanford High School of Richland for first place at the Math is Cool State Masters Competition in Moses Lake on Dec. 5. It was St. George’s second consecutive state championship in the masters elite division.

St. George’s qualified three teams to the competition.
