Museum of Arts & Culture open this Monday and Tuesday

The Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture in Spokane will be open regular hours Monday and Tuesday.

The MAC usually is closed those two days but decided to be open all this week. That includes New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The exhibit “Nature Connects: Lego Brick Sculptures” is attracting a record numbers of visitors to the museum. It showcases sculptures made entirely of Legos. The exhibit runs until Feb. 7.

Twenty-eight of the works are nature-themed sculptures created from nearly 500,000 Lego bricks by artist Sean Kenney. They include an eight-foot-tall hummingbird, a seven-foot rose and a life-size bicycle. Other sculptures were created by local residents who entered the museum’s Lego build contest.

Admission to the MAC is $10 adults, $7.50 for seniors 60 and older, $5 for children 6-18 and for college students, and free for children 5 and under.

The museum is at 2316 W. First Avenue in the Browne’s Addition neighborhood. Information: (509) 456-3931.
