After going 0-3 in Super Bowls in his first 14 seasons, John Elway won for the second straight season as the Denver Broncos defeated the Atlanta Falcons 34-19. Elway completed 18 of 29 passes for 336 yards and won his first MVP trophy in five starts, a record for a quarterback. Denver became the first AFC team to win two straight since Pittsburgh won in 1979 and 1980.
