BYU’s Collinsworth sets record in win

Kyle Collinsworth registered his fifth triple-double of the season, a NCAA season-record, and BYU beat Loyola Marymount 87-68 on Saturday in Los Angeles.

Collinsworth scored 23 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had 10 assists. His five triple-doubles move him past Michael Anderson (1985-86), Brian Shaw (1987-88), Jason Kidd (1993-94) and Stephane Lasme (2006-07) on the season record list with four apiece.

The NCAA career triple-double mark is six, held by Anderson (1985-88) and Shaquille O’Neal (1990-92).

Marin Mornar led LMU with 17 points.

Saint Mary’s 73, Pacific 58: Brad Waldow scored 18 points, Desmond Simmons added 14 points and 11 rebounds and the Gaels posted a wire-to-wire win over the Tigers in Moraga, California.

T.J. Wallace scored 20 points to lead Pacific.

Portland 74, Santa Clara 54: Thomas van der Mars scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and the Pilots coasted to a win over the host Broncos.

Bryce Pressley and Kevin Bailey also scored 16 points apiece for Portland.

Brandon Clark led Santa Clara with 18 points.

San Diego 72, Pepperdine 50: Johnny Dee scored 15 points to lead four players in double figures and the Toreros ran away from the Waves in Malibu, California.

Jett Raines led the Waves with 12 points and eight rebounds.
