Obituary: Payne, Edgar Earl

Age 92

PAYNE, Edgar Earl Died on February 3 2015, he was 92.

He was born in Perryton, Texas on May 24, 1922.

During grade school he moved to Winlock, WA, and graduated from high school there.

He married Arlie Jean Randall of Veradale, WA, on July 18, 1942.

He joined the National Guard and was later deployed to Kiska Island in the Aleutian campaign of World War II as part of the 10th Mountain Division.

Afterward stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia, and serverd as the color guard for President Roosevelt’s funeral procession to the Warm Springs train station.

After the war he entered the construction trade and became a contractor.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, hunting, and shooting.

He was also an avid photographer and for awhile operated a photo processing lab in Seattle.

He resided on Mercer Island, WA until 1976 when he moved to the Spokane area and became a carpentry instructor at SCC until he retired.

For several years he presented science projects in area grade schools using kits he built and sold at craft fairs.

In his later years he most enjoyed being with his grand and great grand children.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean and their first son Randy.

He is survived by his brother Mac (Joyce) Payne and his sister Jean Eskridge and his children: Nancy Fischer, Kathy (Gale) Andrews, Chip (Judy) Payne, Stacy (Rob) Cossey, as well as his grandchildren: Randy (Heather) Radke, Sawyer (Jennifer) Fischer, Tyler and Danny Cossey, Henry (Danielle) Rogland, Calvin, Maddie, Ambrose, Lucy, William and Moses Payne.

As well as great-grandchildren; Bonnie and Maggie Radke and India and Thea Fischer.
